Following on from last years resounding success with Jack and the Beanstalk the same Production team will bring you this years pantomime Sleeping Beauty.
Script Writer / Musical Director
Aled has enjoyed working with the company ever since his premier as percussionist in Aladdin, 2002. This years pantomime is his eighth pantomime with the company. Amongst his successes with the company are being Musical Director in the two youth productions, Shake Ripple and Roll and None The Wiser, and wrighting 8 pantomimes for the company – the most recent being this production Sleeping Beauty. Aled has enjoyed working with an experienced creative team and cast alike and is very gratefull to everyone for their help and advice along the way. He Was a pupil at Ysgol Gymraeg Ynyscedwyn and Ysgol Gyfun Ystalyfera before going on to study at Bangor University where he gained a Batchelor of Music Degree. He then went on to gain his PGCE from the University of Wales Institute, Cardiff. Aled has since been teaching in Dolau Primary School, Llanharan for seven and a half years and is very much enjoying himself. As well as being Musical Director for this show, Aled is also Musical Director for Ospreys Supporters Choir, Who Regularly perform at the Lyberty Stadium before home games. Choral work is very important to aled having been a member of the National Youth Choir of Wales for which he is now a member of staff. Recently, one of his most proudest moments was recieving an invite for the school choir, run by myself, to sing at the Albert Hall as part of the childrens choir in the Bernstein Mass. Aled’s charity, Swynor Ser ~ set up in memory of his father ~ is going from strenghth to strenghth and has so far raised over eighteen thousand pounds for charity. A member of the company for 22 years, Mari has been involved in the production team on numerous occasions. she can normal be found with her musical friends in the pit, although she has appeared in numerous productions including the recent plays, Those Damn Jones’s and Run For Your Wife. Mari always enjoys getting stuck into any production but is particularly interested in the financial side of things. pennies spent without Mari’s knowledge are few and far between. Mari would like to take this opportunity to wish you all a very pleasant evening with the company and wish you all a very happy new year.
Lighting and Sound Designer
Carwyn started with the company as stage crew for the 2001 production of Mother Goose, and has been involved in every production ever since, although over the years he has worked through many roles including stage manager and is now the lighting and sound designer and production manager. carwyn started working in the entertainment industry professionally at the age of 20 and has been the technician at The Welfare since then although is in demand as a lighting and sound technician through south wales. this year sees carwyn tour with The West End in Concert as their Sound Engineer for the wales leg of the tour for their spring tour of The West End at the Movies and their Christmas tour of The West End at Christmas.
Peter has been with the company for 27 years. he started working backstage and enjoyed himself so much that he has worked himself up the ranks. peter’s creative mind has landed him the job of prop designer where he works along side Sam Kneath and Carwyn Hopton. everyone who has attended one of Glantawe’s pantomimes has been blown away by the professional heights reached by the amateur company. some might remember the UV scene from Beauty and the Beast, the magical flying scene from Peter Pan or, more recently, the dream like transformation sequence in the company’s sell out production Cinderella. Peter would like to wish you all a great evening in the magic of panto.
Assistant Stage Manager
Sam has been a member of the company for gust over 2 years. He started off as a member of the cast and soon realized that it wasn’t for him. He decided to join the back stage crew. Sam has worked on 2 pantomimes and several shows, most recently the play Family Planning. In the little time Sam has been with the company he has worked his way up to being the assistant stage manager and at very short notice Sam has had to step in and run 3 shows on his own. Sam has also been a follow spot operator for a professional show which was Turing South Wales last spring.
